Quinault Rain Forest

We made it.  We're here.  We left Tacoma at 6:30 and arrived at Lake Quinault before noon.  After setting up the RV we drove up into the rain forest for our first hike.  It was a short one hour hike along Willaby Creek.

Following the law of camping we had PB&J for lunch and after resting for a bit we drove the 31 mile loop road around the lake.  It was about half dirt/gravel road so it was a slow easy drive in the Honda Fit.  We saw several great waterfalls along the way.  This is a photo of Merriman Falls along the South Loop Road.

The rain forest has 5 world record species of Fir, Cedar and Spruce trees. A picture doesn't do them justice.  Standing at the base of the trees and looking up you wonder how old these trees can be.  Many are older than our country.

Here's Terri standing at the base of a tree that is 23 feet around.

What's in my right hand?  That's my new senior National Parks Pass.  We went to the Ranger station and signed up for one of the most amazing offers that is available from the National Park Service.  At $10.00 for a lifetime pass it may be the best bargain around.  It's great to be a senior citizen.

They grow their leaves big up here.  At a rainfall of between 100 and 200 inches per year they are well watered.  Moss is everywhere and the forest floor is covered in ferns.  The Salmon Berries and Huckleberries are everywhere also.  It all looks like a finely done display.

Terri finally decided it was to warm and climbed down to the pools at the base of a waterfall to see how cold the water was.  She says it was not to cold but she didn't stand in it more than a few seconds.

A Great First Day.

So Prim, So Proper

                                                                   Marg, Trin & Char

To day is our last day of moving things into the motorhome.  The food in the freezer and fridge are the last food items.   Our mattress topper moves in to make the bed feel just like home.

We will officially be sleeping and eating in our new home tonight.  We will now be "Official Trailer Trash".

Always ready for the next adventure.... Dave and I

He's 18 & She's 16

Can you believe that these two kids have grown up?  Andrew is off to college next week and Phoebe will be a junior in high school.

Both kids are great people and we enjoy being with them.

Eight grandkids, each with wonderful parents.  We are very fortunate grandparents.

We are still moving a little more each day.  We will transition to the motorhome this Monday when we take off to the Quinault Rain Forest.  The plan is to be gone for 7 days visiting the Quinault and Hoh Rain forests.  We'll be back on the 15th to close-up and turn over the apartment.  Next we go up into the Cascades (Easton) to square dance and sight see for 10 days.

Have a great 4th of July.

To Tired to Write

The infusion drugs had me buzzed most of the night.  Only managed to get a hour and a half sleep.

So all you get is a picture of tulips I took several years ago.

5 1/2 Hour Anti-Zombie Infusion

Terri and I ten years ago.

It was time for my semiannual infusion of Rytuxin.  This is a drug that I get to control my R.A. It takes up most of the day to get the infusion. It's a 5 1/2 drip.

It happens to be one of the same drugs that Terri took when she had her chemo 15 years ago.  When she had Rytuxin it was an experimental drug.  It worked for her.  One of the side benefits that they found was that it helped people with RA.  I'm happy it works for me also.

I've been having infusions every 6 months for the last couple of years. (All that small print in the Embril and Humara ads you see on TV that say it might kill you.)  Turned out that were close to right.

It's really great to have joints that can move.  Being a zombie in real life is not as much fun as they show in the movies.

5800 Photos & 1000's of Songs

5800 Photos & 1000's of Songs

That's a lot of stuff to download and arrange.

It was good to review all the old digital photos.  I had forgotten many of the photos so it was good to see them again.

Why am I spending all this time doing this work?  I needed to get all our music and photos organized so that I could take them traveling with us.  It would take to much space and space in the motorhome is limited so anything that saves weight is good.

Another day of packing and moving things to the motorhome or storage.  Today I rented our 6'x10' heated storage locker for the next year - $810.00.  I am asking myself if it is worthwhile to save stuff but aside from getting rid of everything it is the only way I can see.

It's time to rest.  It's to warm to do anymore today.
