June Lake in the Sierras - Oh!

We're spending two nights in the High Sierras at Oh! Campground.  We look down onto June Lake from a ridge over the lake.  We are around 7,000 feet up so the nights are cool, make that cold.  As we were driving yesterday there was snow mixed into the rain as we crossed an 8,100 foot pass.

Clouds hanging onto the ridge above June Lake.

We made a wrong turn when we left Highway 395 to get to the campground.  We had turned onto the loop road that led to Oh! Campground but we had to wind through the Sierras for 14 miles before we could reach Oh!.  My first thought was to turn around, but we just kept on going.

It was a GREAT choice.  Sometimes serendipity is a wonderful thing.  We passed a half dozen mountain lakes that looked like picture postcards.  The Fall colors were amazing.

Serendipity is a good thing.
We are driving back into the desert to the ghost town of Bodie today.  It is an old mining town that looks a lot like it did decades ago when the residents all left.  I feel more photos coming.

As I look out the front windshield this morning the clouds are floating by only a few feet above us.  It is beautiful to watch them roll on by.

Life is good in Oh!
