Bryce Canyon National Park

This morning we moved North into Bryce Canyon National Park.  We got an early start and everything was going well until......

The rain started to get solid.
I told Terri not to worry, I would pull over if the snow started to stick.  We were gaining elevation fast and were about 7,700 feet up.  That mile and a half up makes a difference in the weather.  It started to seriously snow.

We pulled over at a rest stop.
In 2013 we drove through our first snow storm in Yellowstone.  I promised myself not to do that again.  We have a fine home we are traveling in, all we need to do is pull over, turn on the furnace and wait it out.  That's what we did.

After a couple hours the snow had stopped and the road was clear.  I got a few chapters of my book read.  We were ready to continue on to Bryce.

We drove through this tunnel in Dixie National Forest.
The snow was melting fast by the time we got to Dixie National Forest.  Highway 12 to Bryce was a beautiful drive with the fading snow showing off the red cliffs.

We are camped in the North Campground inside Bryce Canyon National Park.  The snowy cold weather has chased people away so we had no problem getting a good campsite.  It will be 25 degrees tonight.  Quite a change from the sunny hot days in Zion last week.  We knew it would be cooler when we choose to be in this high elevation in May, but not this cold.  High in the mid 50's tomorrow, freezing each night.

I'll only show you a few pictures of our new neighborhood.  Many more photos to come.

Life is good.... half the adventure is getting there.
