It was a great day for hiking, the temperature had dropped back down to 80 and there was some cloud cover at times. We started with a steep but short hike to a viewpoint looking across the canyon to the Court of the Patriarchs.
That is Abraham Peak, Isaac Peak and Jacob Peak - The Court of the Patriarchs. |
Our next hike was to the Weeping Rock. Terri didn't go all the way to the end of this one, the rocks kept weeping on her and she didn't like being wet. Being from Washington I felt right at home. A little water on my head was fine.
Drip, drip, drip. |
The view back out of the valley from under the Weeping Rock. |
Both hikes were nice so we started a third hike, after a short distance we both decided to turn around before we would have had to scramble and climb over slick rocks. We can use common sense on occasion.
We returned to the entrance to Zion Canyon and picked up a trail that followed the Virgin River back to our campground. It was a nice downhill two mile walk back to our home.
The river leads us home. |

My favorite flower for the day. |
Last night was a full moon. I was sitting outside and I hoped the moon was bright enough to backlight the mountains. I tried several shots but had to settle for the full moon peering through a cloud.
Good night from the Rangers. Life is good.
