Food, Food and More Food

Forest, Forest Gump
We started the morning with a trolley ride.  At the first stop we were joined by Forest Gump and his box of chocolates.  He sat down across from us but only shared his chocolate with the lady next to him.  That was OK because we  were on our way to a very special lunch.

We were headed toward lunch at Mrs. Wilkes House.  We knew we needed to be there early so we arrived at 10:15am.  We joined the line.

By 10:45 this was the line behind us.
They only serve lunch and they open at 11:00.  We had heard that we needed to come hungry.  When you are seated family style with a group of 10 there are 26 different plates of food already placed on the table.

Lunch was served.
The company and food were great.  Fried chicken and BBQ'd pork with every possible Southern side dish made for a wonderful lunch.  The line of people waiting would not be disappointed.

Our waitress, Marcia was the epitome of southern charm.  I could have sat and listened to her speak for hours.  As you can see from the clock we did have a long and delicious meal.

After lunch we walked the town for 3 hours.  We needed to be ready for our next culinary adventure.... ice cream at Leopold's.  Again there was a line of people out the front door.  Again it was worth the wait.

Leopold's Ice Cream Parlor, making and serving their own ice cream since 1919.

During our walking today I focused my photography on the doors we see during our walks.  The next blog I'll take you on a door tour.

Life is good and Southern food is great.
