Swamp People

Technically we are no longer "Swamp People".  We spent three nights deep in the swamp.  It was better than I thought it would be but I won't miss the 90 degree temps and the humidity.  The park was located on a thin peninsula that reached 18 miles into the swamp.  Stephen Foster State Park was at the very end of that long road into nowhere.

So did we see gators?

I looked right in the yellow of  his eye.

So you may ask, "Did I go kayaking in the swamp?"  The answer is, it was just to warm and muggy for rowing.  It had nothing to do with fear of gators.  Really.

We saw lots of birds and a few other flying things.

Here's a photo of Terri in the swamp boat.  We enjoyed seeing the sights from the safety of a metal boat.  Our "Ranger" Steven was great and we learned a lot about swamps in our outing.

Today we arrived in the Savannah area and are staying at Skidaway Island State Park for the next 3 days.  We are on an island in the Intercoastal waterway.  Georgia has great state parks and this is another fine place to use as our base for exploring Savannah.

Life is Good.... now for a little culture not involving gators.
