A Quiet Easter Day in New Orleans

We stayed at home today to do some RV maintenance.  On our drive into Louisiana on Friday we had a problem.  We had just turned off the freeway and were headed toward a campground when we hit a patch of road that had just been "oiled".  Unfortunately the RV and Honda were covered in oil before we could do anything.

Today I spent 5 or 6 hours cleaning the exterior of the RV and I'm just getting started.  Terri has started on the Honda but she has a long way to go on it.

The only good part to this was we were so unhappy at the time that we got back on the freeway.  A 10 hour drive wasn't easy, but we are happy to be here in New Orleans now.

Terri wanted a nap.  Eva wanted dinner.  Eva won.
When we were in New Orleans yesterday we found a mix to make Etouffee'.  It's been years since we had it last. Tonight I made Chicken Etouffee' for our Easter dinner.  It was as good as we remembered.

Good dinner.
Here is the mix.  It's a little spicy but we both like that.  Maybe you can find it at your store.  We're going to stock-up while we can.  You can use Crawfish, Shrimp or Chicken with this mix.

Life is good.  And it will be even better when the RV and Honda are clean.

  1. Oiled?! Why would a road be oiled?

    ...Off to look up Etouffee'...

  2. Oiled roads.... they spray a coating of liquid oil/tar on the road. Then they come back and cover it with gravel. The two things mixed together is a cheap form of asphalt. The problem on Friday was they had oiled the road and not put up any blockades to stop people. We and many others drove right into "Oiled Hell". We were out cleaning again this morning. We'll be done someday....maybe.
