Texas Got Better.....Kerrville, TX.....Hill Country

Our first ever stay in the Walmart parking lot was uneventful.  When I took Eva for her last walk of the night the weather had calmed down and there was no wind.  18 RV's had hunkered down for the night in the outskirts of the Walmart lot and all was quiet in Fort Stockton, Texas.

We had our ice cream and called it a night.

We arose early to do our 240 mile drive to Kerrville.  We are staying in a nice RV park backed up to the Guadalupe River. http://www.bytheriver.com/   It's a sunny afternoon but the winds are starting to pick-up as I write.

The topography improved as we drove today.  We went from boring flat sage brush desert to the "hill country".  I can say after driving about 400 miles into Texas I finally saw an area that deserved to be habitated.  Green grass fields, beautiful budding trees and rivers with water in them.  I now know that not all Texans are crazy, just the folks in West Texas. Green fields are better than dust storms.

We're going to spend two days here kicking back and being lazy on the river shore.  The RV park owns a 22 acre island in the middle of the river and we will be exploring it with the wonder-dog.

It's time to clean the dust out of the motorhome and catch-up on two weeks of laundry.  And it is definitely time to give the dog a bath.  Terri has her priorities correct, she is taking a nap in the sun, laid back in her new zero gravity lounge chair.  It was her early birthday present.

It will be spicy chicken stir fry for dinner tonight and I am hoping we can eat outside if the winds have subsided.  We have a nice picnic table on the edge of the river, perfect if it is calm.

The dog has joined Terri in napping.  Think I'll sign off and join them.

Life is good, even for the dog.
