A Long and Winding Road

Great roads and great scenery.
We drove a big loop around North Central Arizona from Cottonwood, to Sedona, to Redrock, to Moctezuma's Well, to Cornville and finally back home to Dead Horse Ranch.  As usual I tried to find the smaller roads to travel, however today we avoided the dirt roads, they were too dusty.

We stopped many times to do short hikes.  All total they came to less than 2 1/2 miles, so it was an easy day.  The whole Sedona area looks like a picture postcard, I'm glad we have digital photography or I would go broke developing pictures.

Terri and Eva at the top of a vista.  Great 360 degree view.

Up hill for the next hike.
Again great vistas and a dead tree.

A very large sink hole along the trail.
I'll only make you view a couple flower photos today.  I am fascinated by the variety of colors that are blooming in the desert right now.

Cacti flowers.
Cliffrose.  The Hopi Indian women used it as a perfume.
Moctezuma's Well is a National Monument that is out in the middle of nowhere.  This natural spring is flowing in desert terrain where there should be no water at all.  The Indians built homes in the walls above this large spring.

Home sweet home.
You can see two homes at the shaded far end of the spring.

One of the many attractions to this location was the constant 74 degree temperature spring water.  Probably a very nice feature on a 100+ degree summer day.

Twisted and worn with time.
Old man and his dog.
Life is good in the Redrocks.
