Lake Powell, Utah

We've moved to the Northeast end of the Grand Canyon where the Glen Canyon Dam begins forming Lake Powell. We spent the first night at Wahweap, which is on the Arizona side of the state line.  The next few days will be boondocking at Lone Rock Beach on the shore of Lake Powell in Utah.  It's only a move of about five miles North.

Hiking is on the agenda for the next few days.  We don't know how long we will stay here.  With the free camping on the lake shore and the abundance of hiking we will see when the itch to move to Zion National Park hits us.

It's a lot cooler here than we have been used to for the last six months.  Nights in the Grand Canyon were in the mid 30's.  We've dropped a few thousand feet in elevation but it is still cool at night.  Days are sunny and warm so we are fine with that.

Morning greeters.
Our morning greeters yesterday were two young bull elk. They were a few hundred yards from our boondocking spot on FSR 302.  Their fuzzy antlers were just starting to grow this springtime.  We've seen many elk in the last few days.

It's time to go climb on some funny looking rocks today.  Life is good.

  1. Were the ell surprised to see you or aggressive? Or were they more like, "Hey. Whatever."?
