The desert is blooming in Tucson. |
The Honda Fit got 35.7 MPG driving at 110 kilometers per hour most of the way. We choose the toll highway and the total cost of tolls was 784 pesos or $52.34 dollars US. Highway 15 was in better shape than last year but a few sections in southern Sonora were pretty rough. It certainly was nowhere as bad as driving the toll roads in Illinois and Michigan last year.
The best part of arriving in Tucson is the price of gas here. I filled the Honda for $18.70. The $1.99 per gallon is almost half the price of gas in Mexico right now.
Arriving back at Diamond J RV Park we found the motorhome a little dusty but the engine started on the first crank. Everything is running fine but during our 6 month absence we had a mouse visit the RV. No damage except for one wash cloth he chewed on. Most of the afternoon was spend cleaning, vacuuming and wiping every surface in the RV.
We discovered a malfunctioning valve on the toilet so I get to do a little plumbing repair today.
The place we are staying is on the edge of the Saguaro National Park. The Saguaro cactus looks like the logo form Taco Bell. I don't know how many Saguaro are in the park, but my guess is a bazillion or two.
The cactus are all blooming right now so here are a bunch of photos from the early morning walk.
Up 30 feet on the top of a Saguaros is a white blossom. |
How tall is a Saguaro cactus? Compared to an Airstream. |
Eva is Happy to be back in her RV home, so are we. Life is good.
Lazy dog sleeping on the dash of the motorhome. Perhaps she has inspired me. Nap? |
