Dead Horse?

We are on the move again.  The motorhome got to roll down the highway after sitting for six months while we were in Mazatlan.  We traveled from West Tucson to Cottonwood, Arizona today.  It was a warm 243 mile drive that brought us to Dead Horse Ranch State Park.  We choose this state park for it's location between Sedona, Jerome and the Redrock area.

An night shot of desert flowers from our evening walk.
The weather we have seen is perfect, sunshine and warm with a few billowy clouds.  But on our walk this evening we talked to folks that woke up to snow yesterday in higher elevations.  As we move toward the Grand Canyon we will be gaining elevation, so we don't know what to expect.  We'll prepare for 80 degree sunshine or snow.

Eva seemed happy to be back traveling in the motorhome.  I think she considers it her large doghouse.  She hunkers down and sleeps between us as we drive.

Tomorrow morning we will be off exploring the back roads around Sedona and the Redrock area.  We are at Dead Horse Ranch for 3 nights so that gives us time to take-in the area.

Dead Horse Ranch?  When the original rancher came to settle this area he asked his kids what to name the new ranch.  They had seen a dead horse on the way to see the land, so they picked Dead Horse Ranch.  A lesson to be learned:  Don't ask your kids to name stuff.

Life is good.....back on the road.
