Music, Music and more Music

Jim Morrison and the Doors are alive and well in Mazatlán.
We have been off listening to music the last three evenings.  There are now 8 family and friends here in town with my sister, cousin and another friend arriving this week.  The party has begun.

Last night 10 of us went to the Angela Peralta Theatre for a performance of Jim Morrison and the Doors.  This is really quite amazing given the fact that he has been dead for several decades.  But I was there last night so it must be true.  (The truth is that Hector Ortiz, his band and the Sinaloa Symphony did a great performance that brought us all back to the late 60's.)

The Opera House was packed to the third balcony.
A great concert enjoyed by all.
The night before last we walked to the island across from our condo to listen to an acoustical guitarist play soft rock and ballads.  It's nice sitting outside listening to music at the waters edge.  Good friends, good music, good location and a cold drink proves that retired life is bearable.

A very talented Mexican musician, Alex.
If you look at the google satellite photo on the right hand side of my blog you will see a round island.  Our condo faces the island looking West toward the Pacific.  We are the center condo. Zoom into the satellite photo and I will wave to you, really.

The night before last my brother Dave and his wife Jamie went to El Centro with us for dinner and Jazz.  It was a true Mexican experience.  It turned out that the Opera was practicing across the street and a bar down the street had rock and roll.  It was a true cacophony of sound.... only in Mexico.

Dinner at our house... we don't eat out every night.
Fajitas on home made tortillas.
We are enjoying ourselves and the first two weeks have flown by.  Life is very good here in paradise.

Sunset from our balconey the day after the storm.  See, we have clouds once in a while.
