Cinque Terra - Corniglia

We took a picturesque train down the West coast of Italy to Cinque Terra and are spending our first two days here in the smallest of the 5 villages that hang onto the rugged coastline.  Corniglia is the center of the five villages.  Everything here looks like a postcard.

Corniglia from the North.  Our place is in the dead center of this photo.
We again have a wonderful AirBnB with a view of the sea.  The street leading to our place is so narrow that a car could not drive on it.  This village was hung on the side of this hill long before vehicles.
The view from our terrace.
A panorama from our place looking Northwest.
This two street village has many restaurants and shops to walk around and enjoy our time.  We have already eaten some wonderful Italian food on our first day here.

Steps everywhere in this village.
Easily 1000 steps around this small village.

The hillsides are lined with stone walled vineyards and fruit trees.  Lemons, apricots, plums, cherries and several others fruits are in season right now.

Terri is happy because it is warm and the sun is shining.  It is the first day she has been in her sun dress.  It feels good to have the Italian sun shining on your back.

This is a panorama looking back at the village on one of our walks.

We celebrated my 65th birthday tonight with this outdoor dinner.  We weren't fully sure what we were eating but it was good.  Birthday cake was substituted with gelato.

As always...life is good.

  1. That staircase is one of the scariest things I've seen in my life! Glad it didn't prevent an adventurous & beautiful birthday!

  2. When my doctor found out we were going to Italy, he recommended this place over Pompeii...he proposed to his wife her! Sadly, our itinerary was already set, but I would have loved to see it. Someday.... Glad you're having such a blast!!!!
